Chagford Sanctuary was formed in March 2022 following a public meeting in St Michael the Archangel, Chagford – an event attended by over 120 people, all keen to understand how they might help support anyone seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine.
As a result of that meeting, we had an incredible number of offers to help. From there, a small team of volunteer co-ordinators was formed, led by Jane Elliott, Volunteer Project Coordinator.
Chagford Sanctuary aims to provide a warm welcome to refugees, offering practical support where possible – and a desire to provide a home to those in need at the moment, with the hope that one day, they might return as visitors through choice, not necessity.
Would you like to help?
We’ve had an incredible response for offers of support so far, but we are always looking for more volunteers to help, as the needs of our guests and their hosts become clearer.
Would you like to donate?
We are able to offer grants to those in need via our Chagford Sanctuary account, kindly hosted by St Michael the Archangel. If you would like to donate to this fund, please let us know.
